Farmhouse Benches Found In My Basement!

We moved into our new house a year ago. It’s an old house – built in 1935. I love the charming archways, the french doors (when they close), the mercury glass doorknobs and brass door plates. (Yes. I told you before that I dislike brass. But this is different. I love my brass door plates. A girl can be fickle.)

I love my old house. And I loved the surprise I found left in the basement by the old owners. Two of these old farmhouse benches! Can you believe someone would leave these behind?!? Well… maybe some of you can.

But I was excited! I contemplated leaving them alone. I do love a good patina. But the color doesn’t work in my home, so I decided to paint one to use in my front entryway. A lot of sanding and a bit of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Paris Grey and Old White later…

I love that this beauty will stay in my house and move from the basement to the entry! Have you found any treasures in your house?
