Two Friends and a Bench

I have great friends…really great friends.

I have friends who pick up “junk” on the side of the road for me, text me photos of estate sale treasures that I might be interested in, and even text me the address of a garage sale with potential that they just drove by.

And I have friends with great talent…crafting, marketing, photography, knitting and more.

This is the story of two of my fabulous friends and a bench.  This summer, my friend Sarah found a bench on the side of the road.

She, being the awesome friend that she is, brought it to me as I began my Hazel Mae Home venture. It definitely needed some love. The paint was chipping off, the upholstery was old and ripped. But she was beautiful! Just look at those curves! Thank you, Sarah, for seeing both the potential in this bench, and in me.

Next comes awesome friend number two….Kira! As I began finishing painting project after project, Kira offered her amazing talent of photography to document my furniture transformations. When she came to my home to take a few “after” photos, she spotted this yellow bench in my garage. She immediately thought it would be perfect as a prop in her photography business – Abigail Thomas Photography.  And she was right!

I think the three of us definitely turned this “trash” to treasure!

Thank you, friends!

  1. A nice refinish!

I found a similar bench a few years back which was in pretty bad shape. I painted it black (back in the days before I discovered chalk paint) but never had a proper “spot” for it until a few years later we moved to our first house, and I found that our entry hall was the perfect place. Wish I could find another one of these as they’re so cute!
