I dreamed and begged for a canopy bed when I was a little girl. My Mom was a DIYer before things were easily researched on the internet and pinned on Pinterest. She just “winged it” and sewed me an AWESOME half canopy from butterfly rainbow sheets and I ADORED IT!
I think every little girl should have a canopy bed.
Rachel came to me with her childhood canopy bed and asked for it to be updated and redesigned for her daughter to use. It was 1970’s pale yellow French Provincial with yellow and floral accents and two metal disks on the footboard. Rachel and I couldn’t figure out what they were even for. (The finials are missing in the photo below.)
We decided on the crisp and clean Pure White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint with soft pink Antoinette Chalk Paint accents. I lightly sanded and applied Annie Sloan Clear Wax to create a smooth finish.
I know that Rachel’s daughter will adore sleeping in her Mom’s beautiful childhood canopy bed! What little girl wouldn’t?!
