If you follow me on Hazel Mae Home on Facebook, you saw a sneak peek at this beauty last week! I told Dina, the owner of this amazing blanket chest that this is one client project I was wanting to keep for myself! It would have easily fit into my home’s decor.
But… it belongs and stays with Dina! This beautiful blanket chest was given to her by her mother-in-law and sat unused for quite a long while. It was well worn, very dark and needed a lot of repair.
After walking around Dina’s home, I suggested the perfect place for this chest. She agreed and together we decided on a custom blue (1:2 Annie Sloan Aubusson Blue and Pure White). The repairs took more time than painting this piece. There was some loose trim and veneer chipped away. After the paint it was heavily distressed – which I just love. I finished it with a coat of Annie Sloan Clear Wax.
Get ready for a lot of pictures … it was just as much fun to stage as to paint!
I love it. And lucky for us, Dina’s husband does too!
Kira of Abigail Thomas Photography wowed me with the after photos as usual!
