Amy reached out to me to inquire about a pair of twin beds she wanted to have painted. I typically meet clients for an in-home consultation to discuss paint color and finish on the piece they wish me to paint. The minute I walked into Amy’s beautiful home I knew she had a love of antique furniture as I do. Amy has amazing vintage pieces scattered throughout her recently rebuilt home. Her classic pieces bring depth and history to the new space. Her home is amazing.
However, the twin beds she wanted me to paint were not amazing…yet. They had beautiful lines and details, but such a dated finish. Amy had acquired these two beds years ago and wanted to use them in her daughters’ new bedroom. There was potential, but they definitely needed to be redesigned.
While at her house, Amy and I decided on Annie Sloan Old White and Antoinette pink for the details. Amy allowed me to use the Antoinette how I saw fit and I decided to add it only sparingly. I think it keeps the beds classic, simple and sweet.
I applied Annie Sloan’s Clear Wax over everything and finished the Antoinette pink details with Miss Mustard Seed’s White Wax. It softens the pink and adds a little more depth to the flowers.
I love how these beds turned out and can’t wait to see them in Amy’s girls’ room! Thank you for trusting me with these beds, Amy! On to the nightstand next!
