Good morning!
An unfinished blog went out last night by mistake! Here is the complete blog with before and afters…
Jillian asked me to redesign this old footstool that her Grandfather used to use. She fondly remembers it from her childhood and when she was given the opportunity to have it, she was overjoyed. However, it needed some love.
I repaired and tightened a few of the rungs, lightly sanded and cleaned with mineral spirits. Then I painted with Annie Sloan French Linen. Sometimes I distress before wax and sometimes after. This time I distressed with a wet cloth before I finished with Annie Sloan Clear Wax. I love the character that distressing gives a piece!
Jillian had some leftover fabric from two chairs she had recently reupholstered. I removed the old fabric and recovered with new batting and the new fabric.
The result is an updated footstool that still brings back fond memories for Jillian.
Thank you for trusting me with this cherished piece of furniture, Jillian!
