I love painting cherished vintage furniture for clients. These clients love the furniture for the memories, but don’t love the dated look. I enjoy making them love it because it was Grandma’s AND because it now looks beautiful.
But I also enjoy scouting out vintage furniture and home decor at garage and estate sales, craigslist, and thrown out on the side of the road. I love repairing and redesigning the old pieces and transforming them to sell.
One of my favorite buyers of these redesigned pieces are photographers. Photographers and their clients love seeing vintage pieces as props in their photo shoots with families and children. Old, unique props add character and depth to a photo. They are classic and timeless.
I wanted to share with you a few of the props I have redesigned recently. First, is an old vanity stool. I painted it Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Paris Grey, waxed and white waxed. Local photographer, Elaine Janet of Elaine Janet Photography purchased this sweet stool and will use it in upcoming Spring photo sessions.
This tiny footstool will be the perfect throne for a toddler princess in one of Kira Theesfeld’s upcoming photo shoots. She is also a local photographer and owner of Abigail Thomas Photography. This was painted in Annie Sloan Henrietta, distressed and clear waxed. The seat was recovered in a vintage floral print. Can’t you just picture how cute a toddler girl will be sitting on this in a field of green grass this Spring?!?
Lastly, I just finished the sweetest high chair. This is painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Antoinette, distressed and finished with clear wax. This high chair was recently rented by a local mom to use during her daughter’s first birthday party. You can see it in use at the party – photographed by Abigail Thomas Photography here. It is now available for rent or purchase locally. Please contact me at email@example.com for details.
Thanks for letting me share these props with you! If you are a local photographer or know of one looking for props, please reach out to me!
