Small Projects

I’ve been busy with some small projects lately. It’s good to have some of these small things to work on in between large dressers and such…. especially in the summer months.

The first is an old vintage fan that I painted for my sister. I forgot to take a before photo, but it was already painted a bright yellow. I did a quick sand and then painted two coats with a new paint line that I have been trying out …. Fusion Mineral Paint. This paint supposedly sticks to most anything and does not require a finishing wax. It did a great job on this metal fan. The color is Inglenook.

I also painted this sweet little chair for a client. There were a few layers of paint already on this chair and the top layer of white was chipping. I had to sand that layer of paint off, which took some time given the spindles and the legs. Then I primed it, which I typically try and avoid doing, but I wanted to be sure there was a good base on which to paint the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

I painted two coats in Annie Sloan Antoinette. Hand rubbed on Annie Sloan Clear Wax and finished with Miss Mustard Seed White Wax to highlight the details. It is a sweet, pretty chair which my client will be using in a birthday photo shoot for her daughter in July.

My last project was another one for my sister. She had asked me for something to display photos from her many travels. I decided to use an old frame I had and paint it Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue. I painted with a dry brush so as not to get into all the details of the frame. I painted a cut to size piece of hardboard with Annie Sloan Graphite as a chalkboard and added the twine and painted clothespins across.

I love how the details on the frame pop now and there is plenty of room to add a note about where each photo was taken. And it’s so simple to change out the photos.

So… that’s what I have been up to lately! Hope all of you are enjoying your summers!
