I haven’t blogged in a month while I’ve been busy vacationing and otherwise having fun with my family! But I’ve also managed to work on a beautiful reproduction French Provencial dresser for Paola this month!
This isn’t a family heirloom, but it might become one!
Paola bought this dresser from a friend at a yard sale and reached out to me to breathe new life into it. The top veneer was chipped and there were some large scratches, but otherwise it was in good condition.
After meeting Paola at her home and looking at my paint sample boards in her master bedroom, we decided on General Finishes Queenstown Gray. I lightly distressed the edges and finished with Annie Sloan Clear Wax.
I love how this gray looks when distressed and the original wood comes through.
And the original brass pulls are beautiful! I only cleaned them up a little with Brasso, but left a lot of their patina in tact.
I lined the drawers with Spoonflower paper and am so happy with how this piece turned out.
Paola is in love with her new (old) dresser too. She even texted me the following compliment after her husband picked it up this weekend…”I love it! It’s gorgeous. Most importantly, my hubby loves it too!”
That’s what I love to hear! Happy husbands are important!
